Recovering data off a phone that won't turn on

Your data lives on a storage chip soldered to the logic board, separate from the screen, battery and most other components. A phone that won't power on because of a screen, battery or charging fault usually has fully intact data — we can often pull it directly once the board is powered externally.

It gets harder when the board itself is damaged — a short circuit or corrosion that's reached the storage chip or its controller. In those cases we sometimes remove the chip and read it directly on a recovery rig, bypassing the rest of the board entirely.

We always tell you honestly which category your phone falls into before starting, and we quote data recovery separately from the repair — some customers just want their photos off an otherwise unrepairable phone, and that's a service on its own.
